Riding the Epoxy Wave

A few years ago, I stumbled upon a YouTube video featuring an artist demonstrating how to capture waves on a tabletop. Naturally, I went down the YouTube rabbit hole and headed to Michael's Craft store armed with a shopping list of epoxy and acrylic paint. My garage soon transformed into a makeshift studio.

What started as a casual hobby soon evolved into a passion. I began churning out boards one after another, each unique and reminiscent of standing in the frothy whitewash. My resin addiction was real.

Collaborations started happening and I teamed up with realtors, connected with local suppliers and artists, and shipped boards across the United States and beyond.

My go-to for epoxy magic:

  • Total Boat - the tabletop and makers epoxy tops my list! Total Boat has a fantastic website, newbie-friendly FAQs, and stellar customer service. The epoxy is forgiving and super simple to use.

  • Mermaid Trash— This site has ocean epoxy tutorials and a stunning mica and acrylic lineup: Bali, Ocean Mist, Sea Foam, Calypso, Submarine, Cape Cod, Reflections, Gulf Stream, and Tidal Wave. The owner Lauren Macleod has resin classes you can take online.

  • Eye Candy - White pigment paste brings out exquisite white cells. Hands down my favorite. I have tried several brands to find the perfect white pigment to create those frothy waves, and Eye Candy is the best!

  • Meyspring micas - loving the pacific blue and mermaid dust colors.

My inventory is in constant flux, each piece is truly a unique work of art. I thrive on commissions, where brainstorming sessions lead to meaningful creations. Shark teeth, local sand, and special shells have found their way into many pieces, each telling a story.

Let’s connect, you can find me on instagram @binspiredart or feel free to check out our shop, where you can snag a board or have one commissioned.

Cheers!
